Meet our Farmers

Elaine Bourque can be considered the Godmother of the revival of Acadian Brown Cotton. She is one of the few Acadians that is still growing, spinning and weaving this heirloom cotton. She was just awarded the prestigious Tradition Bearer for her commitment to sustaining the distinct culture of the state and contribution to is rich diversity of living traditions by the State of Louisiana.

Ginned cotton from Sycamore Acres is growing as fast as this young fellow. 

Doug Schroeder and Susanne Guisendanner are picking, ginning and grinning. Besides being talented musicians, they also 

grow Acadian Brown Cotton on their farm in Breaux Bridge.
